I still have my newly rebuilt engine on the engine stand and would like to add the oil and prime it.  My first question is can I prime while still on stand and what is the best way?

Fill the oil filter with a reasonable amount of oil.Fill the crank case.You can prime it by turning oil pump drive counter clockwise using a drill or speed handle as some do.You should see oil at the rockers fairly quickly.
