Can anyone tell me where I can but a set of rings for a single piston?The engine is a 292 that has been a reman at some time in the past and had a blown head gasket due to the long head bolts being placed wrong.One cylinder had the rings stuck from rust.The rest of the engine is in almost pristine condition,so I don't want to put in a whole new set of rings.The piston measures 3.800 diameter.Ring grooves are .074,.o83,.175.

If the 3.800 diameter is a correct measurement, you need standard rings for a 312.  I have purchased rings for one piston from NAPA several times, as well as another local jobber who handles Sealed Power.  The NAPA Perfect Circle number would be S50009 std. for cast rings and S40009 std. for chrome.  Incidentally, these are the same numbers for the 260 ci Ford small block.  They would probably have to be ordered.

I already checked with NAPA,and they don't have single sets any more for Y-Blocks.Maybe I can do an end run on the kid there and have him order some for a 260.Or I'll try the other parts store here.We only have two.Very small town.

The piston does measure 3.80,but is stamped .030 on top,so I'm not really sure what it is.

.030 over 292 would be 3.780.  I don't know what piston would be a 3.770 so that .030 over would be 3.800.

Yeah this thing is a little bit of a mystery.It came out of a one owner truck so I know a lttle of the history of it.It had a rebuilt short block put in many years ago and was used very little after.The truck was a 64 F350,but this block is an older part number,probably 57 or so.The heads are C2TE,so are likely the originals.So it's anyone's guess about the pistons.
