Can anyone tell me what rear end I have here? I bought it as an 8", but from what I've read about the bottom bolts

it looks like a 9".

I'm going to have to agree with you, that carrier sure looks more like a 9" than a 8". I have an 8" in my Wagon and I just peeked under (nothing else to do, right?) and the lower pinion area doesn't overhang the bottom bolts like that.

Ford 9 inch.



If you look on the axle part of housing on the forward side to the left of the pumpkin you should see some numbers stamped in there horizontally to the axle housing. That would be the ratio the rear end originally had.
