OK here is a question for Ted. In the 100Th issue of Y block Magazine Ted you mentioned optimizing the push rod length to obtain a 1.64 rocker ratio. Now I realize deck heights, cam base circles etc have an effect but could help us out on the number? A hint on the position of the adjustung nut on the rocker arm? From your earlier articles the push rod needs to be longer, with the adjusting nut backed out. I imagine a "look out for" would be the push rod cup hitting the rocker.

You pretty well have it, you want the adjuster out as far as possible without the cup of the push rod hitting the rocker arm. The only reliable way to determine how long is to buy or make an adjustable push rod, adjust it to the desired position, measure the length and buy some new ones at that length. Every engine will be different, especially after 47+ years. If you're going to do this, you should also optimize the rocker geometry, as that too will affect the required length.

The thread answered my questions, I kind of was looking for a starting point.
Have an adjustable pushrod, need to wait untill the machining is done and other parts arrive.
