I've been smelling gas lately when the car sits overnite. Yesterday, I discouvered that the flexible vent line from the tank was torn off (& part of it's missing,) before it connects to the vent tubing going up inside the quarter panel. The tube in the panel protrudes slightly out of the panel toward the tank & has a pronounced flair end on it. It does not look like the hose goes directly on to it to be clamped. (?) Is there some type of fitting goes on the end of the hose to make the connection, or do I force the new hose over the flair? Does the type of hose material matter ? Thanks for any advice..

Tom: I purchased 5/16" fuel line hose & installed it. The tank end slipped right on, but to get it on the vent pipe flair, I had to lube the pipe end & heat the hose in hot water to get it on. It worked, but was very tight & I still suspect that it's not the original setup. Thanks anyway..
