I'm swapping in a new/used long block into my edsel. the edsel has the automatic 2 speed. the long block came out of a truck with a manual transmission. in the process of stabbing the engine i hit a snag the bell housing wont mate tight to the block and when i tighten it the torque converter seems to bind. it seems that the nose of the torque converter is not sitting into the flange of the crank as it should. I'm too frustrated from fighting it to pull it out again and look but is there a spacer i i forgot to remove from the clutch setup that is getting in the way? or are the cranks different in automatic cars versus manual setups? thanks for the help.

The manual trans engine would have had a bronze pilot bushing in the back of the crank that must be removed. The pilot on the end of the auto trans torque converter sits on the crank recess that is now ocupied by the old pilot bushing.
