Hello all, I am seriously considering purchasing a msd electronic dizzy for my 55, 272 that is fitted into a mid 60's ski boat. It is currently fitted with a 57 dizzy with both mechanical and vacuum advance with an unknown history. During the second half of a days skiing the motor gets rather cranky if the timing starts to wander, hence looking at options.



I'm hoping that the change should make the old girl run alot more happily with the stronger spark etc. The smaller diameter of the end cap is also a bonus as I have a temp sender right the in the wrong place against the current cap. Obviously I'll have to buy a new set of leads which is also probably needed, but I currently have NGK AP5F S spark plugs fitted. Are these alright or if they need to be changed what do you recommend?



Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I installed the MSD 8383 in my 292 that I rebuilt for my 1956 Ford F100. I found the installation and set up extremely easy. And good response over the stock distributor, especially in or wet climate here in The Netherlands. I am glad I made the switch.



They say it is plug n play, It is a truly close as you can get in my opinion.
