Hi,

Just getting ready to fire the engine up and I realized that the Rotella oil I poured in is the Synthetic oilw00t. I have the regular Rotella ,should I just drail and dump it? FYI new filter , have not

 turned the engine over.

Thanks

I’d recommend breaking the engine in on non-synthetic oil.  After a couple of thousand miles, then you can switch to synthetic oil if desired.  Be sure you're using an oil that has 1300-1350ppm of zinc/phosphate compounds.

Hi Tom,

In my haste I failed to mention the engine has been sitting for a while. I took the steps detailed in reviving a engine I found on this forum. This is not a fresh rebuild just been sitting for a few years.

Thanks
