Hi Guys. I have 57 Tbird 312.

I just started my car for the first time in 2 weeks. It would not run. It was choking on fuel. I found that the carb is flooding in the rear. There is gas dripping onto to the rear throttle plates. I has already lowered the float a few weeks ago and the car was running great. The fuel was at the bottom of the site hole. Is it possible that the float is stuck. Needle and seat stuck? If so how to repair?

I had that same problem on my T-Bird.  with the handle of a screw driver you can GENTLY and I emphsized gently, tap on the fuel bowl and see if you can dislodge the garbage.  Be warned, if you hit it too hard, you could crack the fuel bowl.  That happened to me.  In my case, the reason it cracked was a documented problem  with metalugy (sp) on my specific List # and Date Code.  Holley replaced mine.

If that doesn't work, you may need to remove the rear bowl, clean it out, and reinstall it.

check needle and seat for debris or just sticking open. Check float to make sure it does not have a pin hole in it where gas can get inside and it then becomes useless and hangs too low where the needle and seat won't close properly. I've had this happen before.

Hi guys. I removed the needle and seat. Cleaned it, and put light oil on the O ring and needle. The needle moves easily with no binding. Put it back in and car is running again. I checked the fuel bowl with the sight screw out and and the fuel just dribbles out when the screw is removed.

I will keep an eye on this as it has flooded itself before. I may buy a new seat an needle.

Nat  - You may need to get a couple of steel needle and seat sets - like used for alchohol fuels - to get away from this problem. It stabilized mine - and others have reported similar results. The "new" fuel formulations and the sedentary use of our toys tends to play into the problem.

Holley sells a pair of them - size .130 orfice I believe -  for a decent retail price. don't worry about the larrger orfice, your 4160 floats will easily seal them.

Could be a case where the pinhole is so slight it takes a while for the float to bog down. I've had that happen to me before.

Do, what steve said, get a set of the brass needles. Evidently alcohol in todays gas softens the Viton needles and they will stick. you are not the first guy with this issue.
