Ok , I think I have this picture thing figured out.  I have just done a re-word of my first post .  Trying to fit a 272 with a front mount into place on my chassis but looks like no room to fit.  this is the cross member that is still in the stock area.  that has not been touched, but a volarie front end has been installed  the to big holes on the low part of pic is the mount for radiator.  the other holes look like they would belong to the front mount.  but there is only one mounting hole in the front mount and the hole in the center top is not big enough for the bolt, and besides that it is to close to the radiator mounting points.  maybe looking at this all wrong might be to far foward, might be better to use car mounts and slide back a little ?

Bob, I am not sure on a 54, but I think that the mount bolted to the timing cover and used two sets off doughnut mounts. I know that a 58 used this setup. The 61 thru 64's used one set of doughnut mounts. Maybe someone that is more familiar with the 54 thru 56's can give you more info.

There was an aftermarket cross member that had motor mounts to put a FE in 53-56 pickups. I don't know if they are still available anymore, but FE's go into YBlock engine compartments by just turning the side motor mounts around. Could you put in a YBlock by just reversing the procedure with the aftermarket crossmember?

Some guy on Ebay (search Y block) has a 59 front mount listed. It is just like the 58 one that I have. Take a look at it and see what you think. It uses the two sets of doughnut mounts. Looks like the guy is selling a complete 59 F100 one piece at the time.

Hi Bob, are these pics any help to you. They are of my 60 F100, the front end is from a Jaguar XJ6 mk3 but the front cross member and engine mounts are original.

Pete, I thought that I had seen about everthing as for as front suspension for the F100's. Yours is the first Jag setup that I've seen and I like It! How much trouble was the install? Looks good and its still Ford, well sort'a. I know where I can pickup  a Jag for a song.

Glen, Jag XJ6/12 front ends are a popular swap here in Australia, particularly commercial style vehicles. The great thing is on the one sub frame you have all the suspension components, 4 piston disc brakes, rack and pinion power steering, side engine mounting pads if you need them and that lovely Jag ride and handling and it's only mounted in 4 places, but it must be bolted in like the original Jag, not welded. At 34" the F-series frame [post '56?] is a little wide for it but that is overcome by mounting it a little bit lower. For narrower frame its perfect. Jag rear ends in hot rods are popular too. I can post more pics if any body is interested.

Lon, might be what you need in the birthday '58

Bob,

You might try what I did to send pictures.I'm also on dial-up(AT&T says I'm 12 feet too far away for DSL).I used a program suggested to me by another contributor on this site to downsize the pictures. The program is PhotoRazor.com.It's easy to use, obviously, since I am about 95% computer illiterate and I was able to use it.
