Tom; Adding a supercharger set-up is more complicated and expensive than you might think. The minimum parts to the supercharger set-up include the head unit with two piece pulley, the tensioner bracket, pulley and spring and the crank pulley. You also need many other parts of the system to be functional; air intake hose with filter, blower hose going to the "bonnet" that sits on top of the carb, boost referenced fuel pump, special modifications to the carb to allow for the "blow through", and the list goes on. I've been working on a set-up for quite a while using a modified VS57 head unit. There is a website you can ask more specific questions on the subject which is; www.vs57.com Good Luck! Rono

Unfortunately VS57.com is gone. I dont think anyone every found out what happened to it. The hard to find things, in my experience, are the mounting bracket and the crank pulley. The other parts show up on EBAY now and then and there are a couple of suppliers with some parts. As far as the supercharger itself it should turn free and smooth but with some drag. If it spins easily or is super tight it most likely needs a rebuild. Even at that a rebuild may be a good idea. If you can, take pictures and post them here. Let us know what you find and the price before you commit. Many people think they are made of gold! Chuck

Chuck; I the the vs57 site morphed into this one; http://disc.yourwebapps.com/Indices/131168.html#587. I have been following posts on it and it seems pretty active. Rono

John Erb is one of the parts suppliers and rebuilders of the McCullouch superchargers. Nice guy to deal with and fair prices. Glad to see him active on a site. The old VS57.com had tons of pictures and information on the units including parts interchange etc. I wish that info could be made available again. Several of us offered to take over the site with no response. I heard it was for sale for mega bucks but that was a year or so back. Chuck

it looks like the VS57 site is now http://vs57.y-block.info/. It says sponsered by Rebop Castings. Those old photgraphs are great reference material for the Phase 1 I am redoing. You are right about some people thinking the parts are gold. There is an original AC 4442 fuel pump on ebay right now with a starting bid of $1200, no one has bit yet though. Randy

I'll check it out. I knew Frank was in communication with the site owner and had asked about taking it over. The site is just too good to let it slip away. Chuck

Chuck, Jim Moody posted on here several times a few years ago. He has allowed the site Name to return to public domain. Someone else ( internet sleazeball type) picked it up and was trying to sell it. i have been unable to contact Jim for three or four years now. I know he had gotten married and they have young children. I suspect that has taken precedence over the blower site.

Iowa Ford, Just for your information, the 54 supercharger sets on tot of the waterpump ,not off to the side like a 57 does. I think I have a 54 style bracket hidden away somewhere. What town in Iowa are you close to?
