My '55 t-bird engine, running for the first time since I disassembled it in high school auto shop (1972)! Block squared and decked, 113 heads shaved to 66cc (9.0:1), Mummert Y265 cam, "B" manifold/'57 carb. She's got a vacuum leak at the spacer, so idle wouldn't settle down. Gas on the outside of the carb, so may need a rebuild.

Sky: I'm hardly a carb expert, but if your carb is a post 1956 Holley, leakage on the outside may be caused by the small orfices in the metering block being plugged. Remove & carefully clean them out with pipe cleaners or soak in carb solvent & blow out. I had that same problem with my Holley 2300-2Bbl. People on here solved it for me..

Did you make or buy the engine stand? Been looking at buying a cheapo on Amazon.Com for a 302 and modifying it but not sure if it is worth the $25 or $30 it will cost with shipping.

I borrowed a regular engine stand to assemble the motor. I bought the two-piece cradle from Stumpy for attaching the transmission and starting the engine. IIRC, I got mine from Stumpy on ebay.



I'm not willing to part with mine yet, but maybe in a few months...

Thanks for the input. Sent him email for shipping costs and plan to go ahead and buy one. A lot higher than the one on Amazon .com but this is well built and will fit. Would be neat to set up my spare engine for display if I had room in my garage for it!
