Hello, I'm getting parts together to finish the interior of my '55 Fairlane Club Sedan. When I got the car the headliner was gone and only three bows were left - the last two and the first one. I managed to find another complete set. My question is regarding "headliner bow support clips". The remaining bows on my car had no support clips and my shop manual doesn't show them. These parts are, however, listed in the Dennis Carpenter catalog - B5A-6452182-A - 18 required (currently unavailable). Does anyone know if these clips are used on a Club Sedan or have a picture of them? Thanks.

You will find a picture of the clip on page 143 of the Catalogue from Dennis Carpenter.
You can download the PDF version for a reference source.

I just did my father-in-law's headliner and there were 0 clips on my original bows. The headliner is sewn with a long tubes at each seam that goes from window to window. The bows slide into these tubes. The headliner is so tight to the ceiling that I don't think there is a need for clips. Did you check the shop manual for installation procedures? IIRC, there were no clips mentioned in the manual.

Thanks Daniel. I was wondering if the clips are essential since Dennis Carpenter and Mac's are all out and if something could be improvised. Did you take any photos of the headliner installation process? I located a listing for the clips in the "1953 Thru 1957 Ford Passenger Car, Thunderbird, Truck Body Parts Catalog (Sept 1956) but, alas, no illustration of the clip installed. The number required for the car is listed as "as required". It seems that the Thunderbirds use 6 or 8.
Rick, I have a photo of the clip in Dennis carpenter's catalog but i was hoping for a photo of the clip installed.
Since they were also used in the Thunderbirds I am going to check out those suppliers. If not I'll try it without as Daniel did.
Thanks, Mark
