Why are the Ram Horn exhaust manifolds so expensive?   From what I have read on here, they can't be use on passenger cars, because of the steering box is in the way.  Is that correct or did I miss something?

Originally, I think, they were only on 292 engined C model trucks, up to '64. Not many around now.

I was lucky, got a pair for $30 bucks.BigGrin

The exhaust exit is at the mid point of the ram horn manifold. The passenger car is much to crowded with cross members/motor mounts and steering arms etc. at the mid point of the engine compartment. However, the rams horn manifolds are an easy and excellent solution to putting dual exhaust on our Y-block trucks due to the wide open space on both sides of the engine. New ram manifolds can be purchased from John Mummert or Speed Way Automotive. Last year I purchased a pair from Speed Way for my 64 F100 for $375, about the cost of headers. They should flow very good and for sure look excellent on the y-block. I would have purchased them from John but they were not available when I needed them. Hope this helps.

I found a pair at speedway that were in their garage sale section, as they had some cosmetic damage. I was planning on wrapping them anyway so was glad with the price. I had added a mustang II ifs so needed the easier exit to clear the direct path of the steering shaft. A borrowed tube bender and easy dual exhaust. They are made extra beefy so matched to the gasket. They flow and sound great with some glass packs. I don't know if I picked up any hp from the headers that were on it but alleviated a lot of crowding in the engine bay. They ended up closer to the plug wires than I would have liked, but some boot heat shields cured that too.
