The Sep 2007 issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords (p.222) has a tail shot of Jerry Christenson’s blown fiberglass bodied T-Bird while He was at the Mobil 1 Ford Challenge back in May along with a bunch of other Y-Blockers. The Australian license plate he carries on the back is what actually got the photographers attention thinking that Jerry’s car is from Australia.

Moz (9/14/2007) mate i just couldnt let one of your posts go unanswered do you know how that guy got a set of our plates you know we get into heaps of trouble for not handing them inif you can tell me the colour & if its numbers or letters first i may beable to tell you what neck of the woods they came from. Hopefully no more trouble than them not being turned in over here. Some states here in the U.S. have them assigned to the drivers while other states have the plates assigned to the cars. For Texas, the plate numbers are assigned for a 5-7 year period to the car and are just re-registered on a yearly basis. If they are damaged or badly worn at 5 years, you’ve got the option of new plates. At seven years, you get new plates regardless. The numbers on the Aussie plates in question appear to be 171-604. It’s almost a thumbnail picture and hard to make it. What does that decipher to?

I confess .It was me . I gave them to Jerry in 2005 . I took over about 6 or 7 plates ,I think ,and gave them out to some "family " members .The ones on Jerrys car are NT (Northern Territory ) "The Outback State " .As for getting into trouble ??? Who's going to tell ??? Next year I will be doing the same .The plates weren't mine anyway, they were stolen .??? Regards Lon

Hey Moz I think someones pulling your leg about the $1m fine and 20 yrs in the can ???? You can go to any swap meet up here in the Deep North ( QLD ) and buy Aussie plates for about $5 each .Any state you want ??? Just counted them yesterday ,already have 12 plates ready to go for Columbus 2008 .While I think of it,Customs checked the plates out as they were in my carry-on baggage .They sure as heck weren't worried about a few license plates leaving the country ??? Regards Lon

Is anyone really surprised where the plates came from! You know every country has it's shadey characters. I'm not surprised Lon that they let you out of the country with those plates, I'm suprised that a respectable country like Australia would let you back in! I figured they would be happy to get rid of the rif-raft!
