what is that lil manifold looking thing on the top back of the water pump that goes from the water pump to the thermostat housing called( the thing the bypass hose connects too). motor is a 292. need a new one, the steel tube on it is rotted out.

Hi, In the catalogs it is called a "tube, water by-pass front" and the part number is 8548 or 8548A. Casco in Ohio has them, (800)374-0914 or Tee-Bird Products in PA, (800)423-3723. Usually sell for around $8.95. I'm sure the other classic Ford and T-Birds specialists sell them also. Have fun, Nick

I think it's called a thermostat bypass,since that is it's function.
