I had recently disassembled a poorly assembled 292 engine and noticed that some of the lifters had gotten magnetized. It was the first time I'd noticed something like that, but I wasn't terribly surprised. After all, the constant rubbing of metal to metal is bound to cause some strange things.
But is just occurred to me that magnetized lifters might attract metal shavings and cause wear, especially if the foot of the lifter (where it rides on the cam) were magnetized.
Anybody heard of problems with this?
