And while on the subject, since you have changed providers, I have to log in virtually every time I visit the forum, and I am not usually listed as one of the users online, though the top of the page says hello to me.  With the old provider, it finally got to the point that I only had to log on every 6th or so time.  I always click on the remember me button, but obviously I'm very forgetable.  Any ideas?

Thanks for the feedback on the problems.

John.  As far as remembering the login, I’m in the same boat as yourself as the site doesn’t remember me either each time.  I suspect it's something to do with my own firewall protection for myself.  But I’ll pass this on to Jim.

Paul.  No issue on my end on having to scroll left to right to read the posts.  Anyone else with this problem?  The only time I’ve found this to be an issue is when someone posts a picture that’s wider than the margins which then forces the text to be as wide as the picture.

Ted,

I don't have to continually log in like John, but until I respond to a post it won't recognize me at the bottom either. Then as soon as I change subjects, I get lost again.

While we're on the subject of problems, I can't open my private mail. On that page there's a little orange box with the letters RSS. If I click on that, I can read the message, but there's a whole lot of other stuff there I don't understand.

Dennis.  I looked through your profile settings and didn't see anything there that was any different to make the private messages difficult to view.  I figure it will be at least a couple of weeks before Jim has a chance to look at some of the other problems so just try to bear with it for the short haul.  In the meantime, let me know if the problem just goes away or disappears as this can still be potentially linked to the settings on your own computer.

In regards to the users being listed at the bottom on the main forum page, the update time for that is twenty minutes if just viewing the various forums.  Posting or responding to posts should over-ride this.  I don't see a need for that default time being any quicker than that as there is enough going on in the background as it is.

Ted; Sorry to bother you, I didn't pick up on the fact that it had to do with blurbs that included pictures. Thanks - Paul

Sorry that I have been AWOL lately, I am deep into the middle of the project that prevented me from making Columbus this year and it is eating me alive. The software on the old server and on the new one is identical. I backed it up and then moved it to the new server totally intact. the cookie issue that we had when we first moved to this software was solved with about 20 hours of serious programming and that code is in use now. I have not once had to re log in once I had logged in the first time on the new server and told it to remember me. I know this is no fun for John, Frank, etc but it does not appear to be the server that is causing this issue for you. Since I cannot sit down in front of your computers and troubleshoot your issue, it makes it kinda difficult.

On another subject, Tony Paz's pictures were posted this evening and I am trying to spend some time each night as I can to go through the entire site looking for broken links, etc. I have found several and Ted has found others. I knew that moving the html and images was not gonna be a party, just wish that I had a bit more time to devote to it right now. I am told that the project may go well into December so until then, I will continue to update as I can.

Jim:

I thank you again for this site, and when I posted I certainly didn't want this to become a B&M session.  I can live with my problem as I have in the past.  I recently talked by phone to a guy who can't log on at all.  He said it may be his firewall.  I thought the firewall was the piece of sheet metal between the engine and the passenger area.  Shows what I know about computers.

John.  Only way of knowing of the problems is letting one of us know so don't feel bashful in letting one of us know.  Posting works good as others with the same problem can chime in.  I'm quite limited in what I can fix and do manage to fix the little ones but I'm at a loss on the big ones.  I have some of the similar issues with logging on as you do and still get logged off unexpectantly at times.

And Thank you Jim for all you do.  I know how busy your schedule is and recognize how difficult it is to just keep the site functioning.  Site is still great regardless of the little nuances.
