looking for help on a part# for mini high torque starter that bendtsen has in aod kit/I would like to have a spare in trunk/I have looked at most of the parts sites jegs ,summit ,etc also does anyone know how many teeth are on the flexplate? I screw up and didn't count them befor I button it up

It's the same starter as the SBC version. You take off the scrub adapter and it bolts straight up. I've tried to find the plain starter without adapters but even my rebuilder can't find them. So I just bit the bullet and bought a scrub starter.

I had trouble last spring when I got the car out of storage. The starter would not turn, even off the car. It had become so gummed up from moisture over the winter that it had to be taken apart and cleaned up before it would work. A local circle track racer told me they had the same problem and would actually take the starter off and store it inside for the winters. I don't know why this happens but its apparently not that rare. Chuck

Actually most of the starters you see that look alike are the same core. They just have an aluminum adapter plate for the scrub or SBFords. The AOD adapter that bolts to the back of the block was made for a direct fit without adapters. I hate buying them and throwing/giving the adapter away but thats just the way for now. If I recall its a Nippon Denso starter. I've had my local rebuilder and parts stores try to find the basic unit but no luck.
