Hey Frank, The last time I looked on the internet for "Cars For Sale" and e-bay I think there were about 5000 E & F codes listed.  And ALL were 312's to boot?  Surely people don't tell lies when they are listing their cars for sale????  Yes, I know Canada is another story !!!!!

That probably doesn't include the 100 supercharged phase 1 cars that had a 'D' code.  Of this there were 65 Customs, 20 Convertibles and 15 Thunderbirds.

Randy, I'm not really sure of the numbers, but I think you'll find that the majority of the Phase 1 cars were recalled and had the superchargers replaced with phase 2 pieces. You are correct about the D code, history has it that these cars were pulled off the line and converted. Jim Moody of the UK has an interesting web site called VS.57.com that has some details on this. Interesting reading. I've been buggin' Hoosier for a couple of years to write a history of the racing history, he has access to Gordon Payne, Bill Parham, and others. I did not race blower cars during that period, I was into Pontiacs, and always on a local, amateur level. I always thought that the 3 speed transmissions were too much of a handicap to serious drag racing, and I really am not a huge fan of automatics. I know they work, the Hurricane is proof of that.
