Hi guys, I have a Ford-O-Matic in my 59 Edsel If the car sits for 2 weeks without starting I get a puddle of trans fluid on the floor when I start it. (This is not an accumulation, it does not drip when standing). If I run the car regularly, no puddle. Is the seal bad?

You probably have some aging seals (mine were around the shift/kick down linkage) and couple that with the torque converter draining back from setting and hence the leak. I'm not a huge proponent of fixes in a bottle but I did get some good recommendations regarding the Lucas Oil transmission conditioner so I tried a quart and I have to say I'm pleased with the results. Just my two bits!

Thanks Jeff, I figured as much. I also have been recommended to use a Trans conditioner/ Stop leak. I assume it can't do any harm to try it. Any other opinions out there about using an additive? Ed
