Folks,
I know that the're here someplace; but --- I'm now retired and without high-speed internet connection at home. So, I'm working from a local library.
I have very limited time available here; and, the searches are painfully slow.
Becauses of this, I'm looking for a "short-list" of (preferably NAPA) part numbers for front and rear brake shoe sets, all four brake hoses, and some shock numbers for all four wheels - including those that have adequate travel to enable changing the rear wheels.
I cannot look at, or reply to any responses immediately; as, I will either need to visit back here again; or, try my son's internet when we visit there within the next week.
I'd really appreciate anyone's advice about the above request.
Thanks, JLB

You should be able to look up the numbers on NAPAonline.com

I can tell you that the brake shoes are industry # 55 for rear and 263 for the front. These are universal #'s for these parts.Just checked the Napa online Catalog.2 front hoses-UP 381244 1 rear hose UP 36091.There only 3 hoses not 4.Front shocks Sensa-Trac NS-5751.The problem you run into is the rear shocks. The ones listed by most manufacturers is too short to allow wheels to come off because they don't extend far enough.Someone figured out a shock off a 1979 Ford Pickup fits the rear of a 55-56 Ford and works great.I have them on mine. When I find the # I will post it.Gabriel Gas shocks.Sand lightly and spray with Rustoleom black.Look stock.Work great.

Folks,
Thanks for the replies!
I made it back to the library just for this.
I'll really appreciate the rear shock number when you find it.
Thanks again! JLB

As far as the rear shocks, I got the number off some site (don't remember which) for the truck shocks and they turned out to be the wrong style so make sure these have the correct ends to them. Expensive mistake. oldcarmark (7/5/2013) I can tell you that the brake shoes are industry # 55 for rear and 263 for the front.

Another lace to look for shocks is JC Whitney. They have brand name shocks at a decent price (you have to compare prices with NAPA).
As far as shocks that are long enough to get the tires off, you might want to consider shock extenders. I have these on my 54 and they seem to work ok although I haven't had to change a rear tire. It's Mr Gasket 3 inch extenders. I also have these on my 64 Fairlane.

Even with the extenders(depending on the shocks) the axle does not drop far enough to get the wheels off without a fight. The Truck shocks that fit on the rear are Gabriel G63398.Fronts are Gabriel 82026.The G63398 show up on Ebay at a good price for a pair. Some have shown up as defective with no gas pressure. So make sure you buy them somewhere that will stand behind them.Mine were fine and as I mentioned they are white.Light sanding an respray Rustoleom gloss black and they look stock. For whatever reason the shocks listed in most aftermarket catalogs are too short to allow the removal of the rear wheels without undoing the shocks. That gabriel # fits correctly and is plenty long enough and it has enough travel that even with my suspension dropped 2 inchs they dont bottom out.Amazon.com has one pair available for $38.00 with free shipping and another 15% discount for a short time.Amazon.com.Enter "Gabriel G63398" in the search box.
