Y-guys   Can anyone (ok, one at time) give me the cam spec'c from the '57

             blower cars. I need all the spec's:duration, open/closings etc etc.

             Just wondering if those cams would be a good choice for a turbo set-up?

There was a long thread recently (second page or so) in the Technical section about this titled "Blower Cam Specs".  I pasted in the info that I previously posted, which is accurate and documented.

EDB-E 302/302 .295/.295 112

According to a TSB from 1959?, the E cam replaced the D.  Both carried the same service part number of B7A-6250-C.  In addition, there are variants of these cams with B7AE-A - F part numbers, either grooved journal or crossdrilling, and with/with out induction hardened lobes.  

In addition, TSB P-357 dated Sept 11, 1957 discusses the standard blower cam B7A-6250-B with single valve springs, and the DSO (Domestic Special Order) high lift camshaft B7A-6250-C with additional valve dampener springs.

Here’s the link to a lengthy thread on the the blower camshaft specs.  What’s good for a blower camshaft typically also works well for a turbo setup.

Hey guys, wanted to introduce myself...I am Reed, Ye'ha Bill's son.  You guys have a great little forum and have provided my "Pop's" with a great place to ask some questions.  I never thought I would see the day that he sat in front of a computer on a forum!  Hope you guys dont mind me hangnin' out a little over here, I am a Flathead guy, but seems that the Y-Block in dad's truck is about to get some of my attention BigGrin.

Ted, thanks for the link, I was going to search for some info over here today on that topic.

 

My questions are this...Dennis K. made mention of the EDB-B cam, 260 degree on a 112?...I did a search looking for the valve timing events, and came up blank.  Does anybody have that information?  If not, not a big deal, just curious.

 

I am thinking of starting with the Isky RPM-300 and seeing if I can get the LSA pushed to around 114 or so...that should get the timing events to favor a turbo a little better. 

 

Anyway, I appreciate all the help and we'll keep you guys updated!

Dennis.  Thanks again for the info.  Some rough math on these cam specs puts the lobe centerline at 112° which confirms what you posted earlier in regards to this particular camshaft.  Additionally, the specs above shows this cam being installed at 4° advanced or at 108° intake lobe centerline.
