is the bolt pattern on a y-block -to-engine the same as the bolt pattern on a flathead v-8 -to-engine? can i put a y-block where a flathead used to be??

The bolt patterns are different. But a '49 to '53 car transmission will bolt to a car Y bell housing.

thanks for the info..... i know that y-blocks have been fit into 48-52 f-1 trucks but didn't know if the original bell housing on back was used or not. i just bought a 1950 f-4 truck , and ihave alot of y-block stuff (extra) , iwas hoping to use it in the f-4. looks like i might be better off fixing the flathead.
