Where is the best place to shop for an adaptor to mate a Ford C4 trans to my 292 Y-block? Thanks, Ron

I always lean towards John Mummert at http://www.ford-y-block.com/ . John has been a great influence in the Y-Block world and has spent lots of hours building and testing new equipment. Even if the price is a bit more I would still buy it from a loyal Y's guy. Chuck

I have to agree with Moonshadow about Mummert being a great sponsor for this site and we should support him. My choice came down to money and I don't have to pay sales tax in Oregon, so I went with Flat O. Gene at Flat O was very helpful and knowledgeable about the C4 swap which made the job easier. I also got my convertor from Gene already modified for the conversion. I'm sure if I had done the same with Mummert, I would have equally good things to say about him.When it comes to my next engine though, there's no doubt where I'll be getting Y-block performance parts.

They are the same. Just like with Frank Rice' parts, FPTA Thunderbird headers ect, the biggest problem is getting the word out to people. Letting people know what is available is difficult for smaller manufacturers especially if they only sell 1 item for the Y-Block. I try to match Gene's price on the C4 kit but if you are in California you are definitely better off to buy from Gene and save the tax $.

It seems to me that is the world of performance Y-Blocks when looking for new parts we would be better off dealing with one person or organization. Then the buying power, even for low density parts, would be focused at on location. Something like what John is now. As far as performance parts for the Y-Block he has been a one stop shop. Even providing stroker kits comprable to rebuild kit prices but adding so much more to our favorite engines. Lets get building guys "so many scrubs and so little time"! Chuck

John, speaking of the C-4 adaptor, what is the difference with the starter drive that comes with the kit and the FE drive that you replace? Just a concern I have if I ever have to replace it where do I get one and will I be able to get one if on the road? At least with a Fordo you could push start the car.

Also will it work on a mini starter?
