Hi Stuey

Thats really cool to hear, my site on a favourite list......COOL

I ordered the rear from a company called quick performance in Ames IA

https://www.google.se/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCEQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.quickperformance.com%2F&ei=atphVODsE8mkPJbSgeAK&usg=AFQjCNEYkwBCvEVhzld1fSQA1ipX-ZEo9g&sig2=nxd0Qz3BC47KV0jE9dVn0g&bvm=bv.79189006,d.d2s

The guy I talked to was Brydon Papenberg, It was ordered as a complete package with everything new except the brake shield, housing, centre part housing and yoke, these parts was refurbished and the axle housing had new tubings and ends well you can read everything about it here

http://dinnerhillspeedshop.blogspot.se/2013/11/rear-axel.html
The shipping from Ames to San Fransisco was only $100 !! and there I have a friend that ships old american iron over to sweden  so I got a good real on the shipping home to sweden....

All in all I have about $2300 in that rear, home in my garage. That´s not even the start price when ordering the same parts at the know places like curries enterprice etc on the west coast. Their shipping inside california was more than I payed for the entire shipping from Ames to my front lawn......

$2300 is not pocketchange but I will not have to worry about it anymore as it is rated about 750hp, way more than I will ever put in to this little truck. I also got it to factory dimension specs and a torsion diff witch will make it nice to drive in the snow....... ;-)

Well

I can only say that I was lucky when I bought it.

It was 8 years ago I had gotten my first job and I had been wanting one of these for several years and then an add showed up not that far away, about 3 hours drive. So Me and my girlfriend (today wife) hit the road a friday after work. I was sold the second I saw it. All the "buy old cars rules" where out the window, I just needed to have it.

The only rust repair I have found is about 3 inches on the top left drip rail to roof section. and that has been fixed by the first swedish owner in the earlie 90´s.

So I guess I was a lucky guy LOL

Looks great, very nice work.
Appears like maybe the spring mounting points set the caster.

Hmmmm?? I dont follow you on this one???

The frame is stock and the springs are NOS, Front axel is stock. The angle shims between the axle and springs are the only thing that sets the caster, and of course the angle of the chassie.  There are no built in caster in the front axle as it is equal front to back.

At least as far as I know....

As I recall any major requirement for caster and camber was accomplished by heating the axle and bending it. A lot of old front end shops had a anchor built into the floor where they could attach a chain to hold the axle while tweaking it. Wedges would do for minor adjustments I'm sure. Chuck

Hi Jimmy.
Just from the pics it appears to me like the eyelets on the springs are higher on the front than the rear but it might be an optical illusion.

You are right about that, the frame is not level  on the jacks and there are no weights on the chassie so when it´s all done the front shackels will be pointing slightly forward leveling the eyelets
