I've seen that bracket but I think it's for a Chevy and not Ford.

Well, ya got me to diggin' around.
I have not any hassles with not having front plates but it was something that I could get hit on and have wondered about.
I was looking at the '49-'59 Text and Illustrated Parts Catalog.
There is a bracket for '49 then it skips the '50-'56 bumpers with the long slots. It then picks up at '57. It appears there is not a bracket for '50-'56. There is one for the '55-6 Tbirds listed but of course it is completely different and easily procured from vendors.($15.00)
My solution would probably be to bevel a couple of holed rubber spacers or blocks to fit the curve and maybe fab a small bracket to go between them to give some rigidity to the plate or plate frame if used.

You gave me a good idea. I have a couple of rubber grommets and I can easily bevel them with my bench grinder.
Thanks Jim!

I tried a few grommets but none were big enough. I also tried making my own bracket but it didn't come out that good. It did the job but the back side could be seen in the reflection in the bumper and it looked terrible. Maybe if I saw an example of one, I might have come up with something better. The difficulty if the center of the bumper has a "peak" and the surface slopes back.
I'm now back to searching for a real one. It also looks like only one from a 55 or 56 will work. I'm really surprised that no one makes reproductions.

I was thinking of something more along the line of a square or rectangular rubber block instead of grommets. Something that would be thick enough to account for the peak when the back is ground to fit the taper.

Perhaps something like a black rubber shoe heel from a shoe repair shop?
