I'm putting the chrome trim back on my Vicky and have a question. On the front fender spear the rear fastener is in a place that I can't figure out how to get to it. The new trim set has a clip with a bolt and needs a nut on the back. I can't reach it, can't see it and don't see a way to access it. HELP! There must be a trick to it that I'm missing. Chuck

I replaced mine. As I remember the test fit the nuts/screws then tightened them with either a ignition wrench while hold the headlight rim in my hand. Are yours nuts or screws.?. If they are screws bottom out a nut tight on the screw and then use the ignition wrench on it...good luck

I was able to get the front ones by removing the headlight. The problem is on the other end by the door. Chuck

Looking at the fenders I have here, the end ones by the door are snap in clips, otherwise it looks like you would have to pull the fender out to get at it if you are using nut and bolt because it is right below the center fender mounting bolt that bolts the fender to the pillar. The end door ones are behind the rubber door seal, hope you didnt install your seals already!
I can text you a pic of it!

Correction, its above the fender bolt, not below.

Thanks Bill. I was wondering about that. I bought a set of new clips and they were all bolt on. Other than this last one the set worked out perfectly. I can see where this one requires a snap in. I'll see what I can find. Chuck

I'll have to check. I haven't had my phone on yet today. Chuck

On my 54, I had to use a push in clip for the last fender clip.

I've two different push in's and neither will seat deep enough in the hole. Bill, I didn't get the picture text came though with no subject but the picture doesn't show up.

I was able to get a 1/4" drive socket on the fender moulding nut closest to the door jam by drilling an access hole in the sheet metal  interior kick panel under the cardboard trim panel.  I located the correct place to drill the hole in the kick panel by first drilling a small hole from the outside in.  I then enlarged the hole on the inside to about 1/2" diameter so I could get a socket with a long extension on the nut.  You can then get a 1/2" rubber plug to fill the access hole and none of this will be seen when the cardboard trim panel is in place.  Good luck, Alan S. Thanks Alan. That sounds like a workable solution. When I came in tonight from the shop I was thinking of drilling a new hole 6-8" forward of the door edge. There is one spot there I can reach. Better solution is the door jamb hole. I'll try that one tomorrow. Chuck

The very rear part of the inner fender that is behind the wheels is removable and that is how I was able to get to those bolts in my 55

I managed to get one in but will look at the inner panel for the other. Isn't the fastener still up and behind the door hinge pocket? Chuck
