I have a bucket of used lifters any chance of using one of them? What should I check on them?If using ‘used’ lifters, then put a straight edge on the wear face and insure that the outgoing radius on the lifter face is still evident. You should basically be able to see a thread of daylight between the straight edge and each side of the lifter with the straight edge sitting across the middle of the lifter. A well used or worn lifter will be concave to the point you can see daylight under the straight edge at the middle of the lifter. If the lifters appear to be flat, then I would be hesitant in using them as you’re wanting that outgoing radius to promote rotation of the lifter.
