I'm trying to source a few Y-Block accessories for my upcoming project. A couple of years ago I ran across a company that was selling and I believe making a set of air cleaners that would fit the Holley 4000 teapots and on an Edelbrock 257 manifold. They were adjustable and designed to look like the old Steilings and Hellings air cleaners in the past. Circles on the lids I had it bookmarked but that was at least two dead computers ago. Can anyone recall them and possibly the sellers. Thanks in advance.

Someone else on here was talking about some other ones, got a flat on each side to clear on 2x4's. Not sure which manifold they might work on.

Edit. I think it was these.

I bought a set of those D shaped air cleaners from spotlight custom accessories. they are made well enough and look good, but I am not happy with the way they fit. the filter drags a bit on the one carb when installing it, can't remember which one , and I don't have it here to check. I also thought the gap between the   2 filter housings ( the flat sides) would be tighter than it is. the gap just looks to large for me. I am just a very picky guy. also I am not real crazy about the V8 embossed into the filter element, I would rather have it plain. oh well another couple hundred to the pile of parts that I may not use. I really would like to find a set of completely round air cleaners for the teapots with about a 1/8 to 1/4 " between the lids.

Get some 1/4 Aluminum flat stock, a saber saw with a metal cutting blade, a filter that will fit and make your own.

I probably will end up making my own. my brother is a machinist, and we have plenty of equipment at our disposal, so fab'ing one up is not a problem, but was not originally planning on using  aluminum. we also do not have a chrome plating shop in the State of Alaska anymore thanks to the EPA . we used to have one in Anchorage, but it was shut down 10 years ago.

If you think about it the Holley's of that time they were the ONLY carb with the 7-1/4" top seal diameter. All the Rochester and Carters had a smaller seal area that's why the GM and Chrysler air cleaners would not fit and the Holley's needed more room on top. Today they all are the same so to find originals for a Ford will be tough. I'm not saying they did not make them but until the 57 came out with the Ford Autolite and the new style Holley's, there would have been little call for the Holley especially a dual quad since they were a dealer installed option and came with an Purolator complete air cleaner/filter system. Good Luck

DryLakesRacer, thanks for your reply. I really wanted one of the original chrome oval air cleaner assembly's that came on some of the Thunderbirds, but was unable to find one. when I found out how much they sell for I backed up. I then found a source for one like it only in cast Aluminum. It was priced at $750. It also weighed about 2-5 lbs.  . Well, I can not justify that for a reproduction, for my hot rod. If I was restoring a Thunderbird that would be a different matter. call me cheap if you want . If I could find one of the original chrome oval ones at that price I may consider it, but I would have to think about it. like I said in a previous post, I will probably end up making  something.

I feel your pain. I'm lucky and unlucky that I used small base Carter WCFB's on mine. Lucky as they were something I knew, unlucky the top was also smaller than the norm today and if I wanted to show them off I needed to step up for repo Corvettes which are 200 a piece or more for originals. One option you may have is I saw a dual quad air cleaner unit for the bigger tops and the bottom was adjustable to fit any carbs center. It had a finned oval top and an exposed air filter. It may need a thicker filter for your app because of the way the teapots are made. Next time I'm at that speed shop I'll get the brand, cost, and a photo. Good luck.

I don't know if this will help but I bought this a/c top for a tri power I took off. Never used it. At least 15 years ago. It's an O'brien Truckers in the original 15" version. This link shows the current version at 18".

The base is your problem to fab. Then the flat plate is drilled as needed to go on the element, and the finned cover bolts to the top plate. The finned cover is nominally 15 1/2" by 7 1/2".

If you can make it work, I'll make you a deal you won't believe.

Here is another option that might work for your Teapots. I am running dual Edlebrock 500 cfm carbs on an Edlebrock #257 intake and the Mooneyes dual quad billet air cleaner worked out well. Not dirt cheap, but reasonable compared to some others.
