Ok, here's one for you car guys. I use a Powermaster High Torque started on my 56 Ford Victoria. Works great but has a water problem. I had it serviced last spring because of water. I just returned from a 3 week trip and the car set idle. Wouldn't start so I pulled the started. Again I found it completely soaked. It is not antifreeze or any fluid from the engine. Its bolted flat up to a Bendstens AOD adapter. Inside the bell housing felt dry.

Could it be water dripping down from the heater hoses?

Same problem here.
Water draining from hood hole to top of engine and from there to starter.
Draining hole is to wrong direction.
I put sealant between starter and adapter plate, I hope that helps a little.

I also changed a more powerful powermaster starter.

I have the same problem with my 55. Were is this drain hole location in hood?

I put a thin coat of sealer on the mating surface and a smear around all the seams. The rubber seal on the solenoid could be a problem so I sealed it too. On my starter, a Powermaster, I didn't see a drain hole anywhere. I wonder if I should drill one?
