I have a '55 Ford Customline with a bad manual steering box. Does anyone know of a donor car replacement? They want $500.00 to rebuild my box. This is a hotrod '55. I don't care what column and box as long as it works. I know you can buy kits to rebuild my box but I don't have the expertise or tools to do the job. A tilt column would be nice!!!

Thanks..............Ron

The old Mustang or Cougar box will work but you have to put a joint on the bottom of the steering shaft. There is a thread here someplace that will identify the box. The Cougar is the quickest ratio.

This topic covers the Mustang/Cougar box conversion. A lot cheaper than rebuilding an old box. Chuck
