I have a '55 Ford Customline with a bad manual steering box. Does anyone know of a donor car replacement? They want $500.00 to rebuild my box. This is a hotrod '55. I don't care what column and box as long as it works. I know you can buy kits to rebuild my box but I don't have the expertise or tools to do the job. A tilt column would be nice!!! Thanks..............Ron
Still Livin In The 50's!!! '55 Tudor Customline with a 312ci Merc/4-Speed/Granada Rear.

The old Mustang or Cougar box will work but you have to put a joint on the bottom of the steering shaft. There is a thread here someplace that will identify the box. The Cougar is the quickest ratio.
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

http://www.y-blocksforever.com/forums/Topic782-3-1.aspx?Highlight=steeringThis topic covers the Mustang/Cougar box conversion. A lot cheaper than rebuilding an old box. Chuck
