Didn't read this post until after I had replied to your intro post. Yes, you can bore the 272 to 292. I think I have a set of std bore 292 pistons that could be reused. New stock type pistons are still available through Auto Zone and maybe NAPA. There again depends on the budget. I'll dig through the ones that I have and if they look OK you can have them for shipping cost. You may get offers that are closer to you that will save shipping, just let me know.

Hey, Glenn. Let me know if you are not sending a set of pushrods. I have a couple of sets and believe at least one set is of the tubular type. TC

Hi Tom, I have pushrods, seal retainer, pistons, cam and lifters, truck timing chain and gears. Still not clear if he needs a rear main cap or not but I will throw one in. Ted tells me that the heads worked out real well for you and seem to have solved your problem.

eek...checked one lifter for crown and it looks flat, I am guessing the crown should be perceptable when a straightedge is plced across it? The part we need is the aluminum piece that holds the rear seal-

Not sure what happened on the email, Glen, but the heads did work out well. Ted calculated the static compression ratio to 9.4 if memory serves. Allows pump premium gas and not blowing headgaskets. 56 Runs great. Still tweaking distributor and carb. Later, TC

Dan, just consider that my contribution to higher education for this week. Maybe the kids will learn something and have fun doing it. Who knows, fifty years from now one of them maybe as crazy about these old engines as the rest of us are.
