It’s highly recommended to leave the coating on the bearings. Removing these coatings is just another way to set the engine up for a premature bearing failure and is a perfect example of someone without all the appropriate information trying to outthink the engineers. If not performed using the proper equipment, imperceptable scratches are put into the bearing surface and the bearings will not only have a reduced surface area, bearing wear itself is sped up.
Simply mic and insure that all clearances are within specification without modifying the bearings and keep everything spotless during assembly and this will be the first step to many miles of troublefree operation.
