I was thinking about making a 312 into a TBI fuel injected engine. Any thoughts, what carb setup would be easiest (currently has a singe 4bbl, better (and more barrels) than anything I've owned before so I'm not complaining). If I have to (as I've posted before) I can get a 256 instead, more stock, would that make it easier? I was looking at a Holley setup they advertise for the 302 on up (I think). I know 302 is a windsor, but it seemed like a good place to start, not really a featured hotrodding engine, the Y-block.

There's Holley, FAST EZ Efi, Retrotek, Megasquirt.

Megasquirt is more of a DIY sort of injection. I think kits can be purchased now but it started out as a way to learn about efi by building the system from the ground up. With Megasquirt the only limit is your imagination.

The FAST and Retrotek systems are self tuning. Fast only uses a 1 bar map sensor. Retrotek will work with a 2 bar map sensor. If 15psi or less of boost is in your engine's future, the Retrotek will be the way to go of these two. Another benefit of these two is that they come with 4 barrel throttle bodies which will mount directly in place of your carburetor. The Retrotek throttle body actually looks like a carburetor allowing you to really keep the fact that it's injected under cover.

Holley is a little more involved as it has to be tuned manually.

I really haven't heard anything bad about any of these.

OK, that megasquirt system is awesome!

I built an EFI system on a little 232cc one cyl engine for the challenge, and that took months! But it was fun.
