I called Holly Tech. line today and they don't have a modern day carb to replace the 4000 Teapot, his suggestion was to get a 57 Intake manifold, they do have a direct fit for the 57.

Anybody have any input on this, I really would like to replace the Teapot, Pony wants $600.00 for a 4000 with $100.00 core charge. What I've read about the Teapots is I don't want to put that kind of money into it and be subjectable to the same problems down the road.

My curent Teapot is a 4BCarb  and according to the manifold numbers is mounted onto a 2BCarb manifold. Maybe an adapter plate there, I haven't removed it yet but the Holly guy said there may be an adapter plate but he couldn't reccomend one,

Is there a adapter plate available or is the 57 mianifold the way to go?

Try thumbing through this set of posts if you would......

It might give you a bit of guidance - this fellow used the "A" manifold with an adapter and felt the change in carbs was a positive - even with the adapted manifold.

There is an adapter. Jegs/Summit should have them. I know the TBird parts suppliers carry them.

The adapter, assuming one is available, is the most cost effective way to accomplish your goal, which is to use a newer carb. First you need to determine which manifold you have.

If you're also looking for more performance, then the proper manifold will be a benefit to you as well. But the later manifold may pose problems matching up to your '55 heads.

And don't forget about installing a later distributor for use with the new carb.

I'm using the stock manifold that came on the car, I'm calling the guy I bought it from tomorrow to see how he adapted the 4bc teapot because the vin# states it was a stock 2 barrell.

A consideration for using an adapter on a car is hood clearance.  The adapter will raise the carb by .5" or more depending on the one you get.  Just an FYI.
