Has anyone the dimensions of the bell housing pattern - including the dowels, and cam in relation to the main centerline.

Diggerdon and I (mostly, he is) are going to make a fixture for CNC milling, boring and o-ringing of the Y. I have another block I can measure but it has to be disassembled. If anyone has this info, it will be helpful.

Charlie, I sent you a PM.

Please let me know as well, if anyone has the back of the block- bolt and dowel dimensions relative to the crank c/line.Still working on that bell adaptor. Thanks   Barry

Barry.  I'm assuming you're needing the dimensions for all the bellhousing bolts and the dowel pins.   I've got some 'adapter building' transfer plates for the Y that I can pull the dimensions off of in regards to crankshaft centerline but need to know what kind of tolerance or accuracy you're looking for as I'd be using a dial caliper to get these measurements.  I could provide the measurements of each of the bellhousing bolt holes and dowel pin holes in relation to the crankshaft centerline but the measurements of each in their circular path would need to start with one in particular and then the others all referenced off of this one to prevent stackup measurement error.  If I started at one end and simply measured the distance from each hole to the next, then some stackup error would likely be introduced.  Just let me know and I'll get you some measurements.

Ted     Thanks for the offer, but before you spend time on this, I'll try something else.  At work we have a "CMM" measuring arm that I'm just doing some training on (I'm the student).  With a bellhousing I should be able to capture all the points required assuming that the trans input side is accurately referenced to the crank c/line.  Maybe it would be better to lug a bare block to work and do the back of it, that way the crank saddle area could be done more easily relative to the bell dowels and bolt holes?  If this works,I should be able to save the info to a file we could share.  I've been away from the site for awhile, moved to a newer home outside the city....new improved shop.....lost track of the eng. masters thread.  Any luck with that plan?

Barry.  I used the backs of blocks to build the two transfer plates I use for building adapters.  One plate is used for building a Y-Block to PG tranny adapter while the other plate facilitates building an adapter for a Y-Block to an Fe bellhousing.  Either of these plates have all the critical Y-Block dimensions on them so just give a shout if you end up needing these dimensions.

The EMC engine is still progressing more or less to plan.  Block is back in the machine shop having the mains align honed after being rough bored and being cryogenically treated.  Pistons are ordered and I look for them to arrive shortly.  Crankshaft is laid out and ready to be turned.  C2 rods are finished at this point and ready to use.  The 113 heads are laid out and ready to start some serious work on them within the next couple of weeks.  Camshaft order should be finalized later today and that should be on its way shortly.  All for now.
