This is probably in one of my books but just wondering what the rev limit is for a standard 292 with 4 barrel [thunderbird] auto??

With the original valve train, 5000 would be the limit, that is unless the valves float before then. Depends on how tired the valve springs are.

The 292 (+.060 = 301) I put together I was shifting around 4000 till I talked to Ted and he told me shift around 5500, but then again I have dual springs from Mummerts on the valve train along with steel crank, C1TE rods and Ross forged Pistons

I was asking as I am fitting the ignitor 3 shortly and it has a rev limiter built in.. I was thinking 5000 rpm should be more than enough for the ol' gal.. [ not that she would ever see that]

Ford at one time issued a RPM limit recommendation of 5400 for standard valve train parts. It would be wise to stay under that with old springs. Peak power was at about 4600 RPM, so going higher than what they recommended is pointless.

I would say you are right on the money at 5000 limit. If you do something dumb and miss a shift you will not hurt anything.
