What EXACTLY does the other end of the clutch lever spring hook to on a 56 f-100?

It's been a few years since I had my 56 F-100, but if I remember right, it's just a return spring that attaches to a bolt or bracket on the block. I know you asked for exactly where it mounts, but anywhere it gets the job done of pulling the clutch fork back after you let your foot off the pedal should work. Rono

On my '56 Mercury M100 the spring that attaches to the end of the clutch release lever (as opposed to the pedal) goes to a 1" wide piece of flat bar attached to the inside of the frame by the bolt that holds the axle bump stop. The end of the strap is jammed up against the inside of the frame at an angle so that the spring tension can't pull it back. Its about 3 inches long and easy to make. I also have a light spring from the pedal to the block as Rono suggests. This spring just adds a bit of free play before the clutch release lever begins to engage. I have a modified clutch release shaft so this part of mine may be a bit different than stock.
