According to this write up: http://home.comcast.net/~simplyconnected/59Ford/EngineParts/Block/BlockAssembly/default.htm

"The two outer head bolts go through a water jacket, and must be properly sealed."

Is this true??

I've never checked, but I believe that is incorrect and all of the head bolt threads are blind tapped. I've not used any sealant on any head bolts, and no leaks yet.

Must think he's building a Ch**y.

Ok great, cause I didn't use any sealant. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks!

Charlie is correct in that all the head bolt holes are blind meaning they don’t see coolant. But be sure to lube the threads during assembly so that the bolts torque more accurately when tightening them.

Thanks for the tip Ted. I did use oil.
