I've been trying to figure out the best way to mount my blown stroker motor into this 37 Ford Coupe chassis and discovered that passenger car Y-Block motor mounts come in a 2 stud and single stud configuration. Why is this? Is it just the application? It seems like the single stud motor mounts were used in some Edsel and Mercury models that ran 292 and 312's, but I've discovered these motor mounts were also used for the later 352 and 390 FE motors. Are the single stud motor mounts any less strong or less stable?. I think I want to use these single stud mounts with a tubular FE motor mount that Speedway Motors sells which would make the installation really easy.

Ron, I used those mounts along with the Speedway FE mount to install a 292 in a '38 Ford PU many years ago. Never had a problem as long as I had the truck. I figured if Ford designed it for a FE it would be OK for a Y-Block.

COOL That's what I really wanted to know. Should be a lot easier than using frame mounts that attach to a rubber biscuit then adapting something to mount to the block!

The old Hurst conversion mounts bolt to the front of the engine and rest on biscuits. They pop up on EBAY from time to time. I think I have a couple somewhere. Chuck

I never knew those motor mount conversions even existed, but bolting anything more on to the front of this motor is not an option for me. I think that the Speedway FE Tubular motor mount with the single stud Y-Block engine mounts will be the way to go for me.

I know what you mean about adding anything to the front. Thats one of my concerns with the McCullouch. The only problem I have with the side mounts is the header interference. With a front mount you can run the T-bird or Truck headers. Of course if the Mummert headers come in at a decent price that problem is solved. Chuck

The old Hurst conversion mounts,as I remeber were made for the ford truck timing cover with all long bolts,you would need to add spacers with a reg car timing cover cuz there are no boss coming out that far on I think 3 bolts?I'm old so could be wrong.
