I have a 1959 292 in my F100. I ordered Cap hold down clips from MACs. They sent ones that are too short. Anybody know where I can pick 1 up? or have a part number?

I also need a rocker arm adjuster. The number 5 cylinder exhaust is to loose for my comfort, I can almost turn it with my fingers...

Thanks

There may be a difference between the 1956 & earlier distributor cap clips & '57 & later ones. ?. Re the rocker adjuster, at one time Ford made oversize thread replacements, but as to availability now, maybe someone on here knows a supplier? A short term solution mite be to use Locktite "thread locker".

I went through this about 10 months ago when I had my rockers reconditioned. I had to go through at least 2 dozen rockers to find 16 that were tight. Recently there was a discussion concerning the need to run a tap throuh the rocker if you plan to switch from the interference type to the lock nut type. I think Ted explained this but I can't find the post. Also I have read that the FE ovesize rocker screws will work in the Y rockers. Also some claim that after market screws (such as Crane) will work but John Mummert cautioned that the ball may not be exactly the right size. I suspect that they would have the same thread issue as the lock nut type. Finally, when I had my rockers machined the machinist had an old box of oversized interferance screws made by Pioneer I think. We measured the ball and found that they were compatible with the Y push rods (3/8" I think).
Some of the Y Block sppliers carry replcement screws but someone on this site found that they are not oversized.

Hey mustang... Mac's sent you a set of hold down clips for a 54-56 distributor (shorter distributor cap on those loadamatic distributors). The 57 through 64 Y block distributors had a taller cap, thus longer clips.
