Go search "Aerostar springs. Again". One of the members posted a similar problem with the combination of lowered springs and the Granada spindles. Someone else posted all the standard spring heights. Based on my experience, I'm guessing your springs were cut somewhere along the line (mine were, probably by me, and I forgot). I read on another forum that one of the Mustangs used a spacer ring that would work, but I think the birds used them too, on the drivers side. Since you're going to have the front end apart again, measure the load and free height of the springs, and the new d/b spindles against the originals. That will tell you a lot before you put it back together. I don't know about you, but no matter how many springs I remove, I'm always in a cold sweat when they come out. Springs are dangerous.

A rubber spacer under the coil spring should do the trick. I would try 1" and see how that works.

The Granada spindles take about 1"-2" out of height. Maybe some coil upper shocks would help. Chuck

Gentlemen,
Need a little help, installed a disc brake conversion on my 55 bird, brakes are awesome. My problem is that by doing so it lowered my front end to the point that I can't go over a speed bump without hitting bottom. Just recently redid the entire steering mechanism and am afraid of busting up my new stuff. Anybody have any ideas as to how to bring up the bird to normal height, or do I have some worn out gear that I need to replace? Any help would be appreciated.
