Are you asking if a 57 Mercury 368 used a paper aircleaner insert? If that is your question then the answer is yes.

Hi, On my 368 is an air cleaner that is different from 312 engine. The 312 engine has a small filter mounted in the air cleaner and there is in all books revealed through drawings how this looks. But sadly missing this information and pictures describing the 368 engine's air cleaner. My question is whether even this air cleaner has a removable filter mounted?
Was there any filters in these already from the factory when the air cleaner looks different inside?
It has channels around the outer edges of the air passages.
