No reason that they won't work. The TBird suppliers have clutch replacement fans.

Hey Bill;   I'm running a fan clutch on my 55 Bird (from Casco) and the smaller water pump pulley from Concours.  Both work great. Well worth the cost.

This is a bit off the mark - but I'm going to ask anyway - will the single groove water pump pulley off an old 289 (or even some GM product) fit the snout of my 312?

I'm looking to jack up the pump RPM without spending my kids inheritance on the one from Concours. The prospect of relocating the mounting flange a bit on the pump shaft (to keep things lined up with the alternator) doesn't terrify me too much - but......it might not be possible. Could be it'll be difficult to do with what I have to work with and I'll have to go another way.

Gary - is your clutch fan set-up rigged for "temperature release" - or "speed release"?

What I have done is use a water pump pulley off a 55 Ford V8 engine and a four blade 56 fan. The 55's had a 3 blade fan and smaller WP pulley so more RPM on water pump. I then had to change to a different fan belt. The 55 fan belt will not fit as the 55 generator pulley is different diameter than a 56 generator pulley. You will have to get a belt from an auto supply store. A truck engine WP pulley will also work. The truck WP pulley is in between the 55 pulley and the stock 56 pulley.

the bolt pattern might be the same but where the belt groove is in relation to your other grooves(alighnment) might be different.

Please bear with me:

I notice the Casco clutch fan is labeled "thermal". Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but how does the clutch know what temp. the coolant is?
