I just went out and checked the pushrods and one was slittly bent I measured the extra rod I have and it is about a 1/16 longer it is straight though could I use that one and let the rocker arms take up the differance or is there a allowance for how much bend in a push rod that you could use. I am guessing once it is bent that it will bend further once under pressure.

I would guess that there was an extra pushrod laying in the lifter valley when you originally disassembled the engine.  A further assumption would be that the longer pushrod was actually a replacement pushrod to take the place of the one that was lost within the engine.  Be sure to roll all the pushrods on a flat surface and look for any that are bent.

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure this out. I tore my 292 apart about 1 year ago and I do not know where the extra push rod goes I have 16 that are all the same length but I also have 1 extra that's maybe 1/8-1/4 inch longer than all the rest. I have been scratching my head trying to remember where it came from. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
