I took my valley pan off because it was leaking , when i put it back together with the cork gasket should i use 

You need to make sure the pan is straight in the first place, and the motor is on no.1 TDC. use contact cement to hold the gasket to the pan, I use something like pematex no.3 non hardening sealant [don't think you have no.3 in the USA?] around the corners, maybe black RTV, you'll see where the timing cover meets the block and also the back of the motor, ideally run a small amount of grease along the sides, just makes it easier to get off. You could use a little RTV around the threads where the oil pipe comes out of the pan. Don't do up the jamb nut to tight where it goes into the oil pump, it only needs to swell that large rubber o ring seal. Yes you can use a little around the coolant holes only. Again check everything is straight first.  As far as I know [here] Black is for oil red for high temp. blue..? There is probably a myriad of colours all doing much the same thing...?

I use the copper color RTV in both places you mentioned.  Just a thin coat will do.  One thing about the copper color - If your engine is the Ford  red, the copper RTV shows up the least.  Make sure the valley pan is not bent.  I have modified  my valley pan by shortening the baffle inside and cutting down the width of the baffle.  Makes it a lot easier to get the pan on if the heads are installed.

Have you ever used "Permatex Aviation Gasket Glue"? It seems like no matter how careful you are that RTV always leaves a gap somewhere, and the oil always finds it. I use that Permatex on everything, and have always had good results with it.

It's all sealed up and not leaking, Thanks guys.
