I have the Best Gasket head gaskets.  I wondered what the consensous was on to copper coat or not to copper coat.

I wouldn't.  The gaskets should seal just fine by themselves and the copper coat can make the heads very difficult to remove in the future.

Like Charlie, with the composite head gaskets I don't coat them with anything.  I also have moved to BEST gaskets for y-block builds.
