Tried to remove the rear main seal retainer in my 312 engine but 3/8 socket is too narrow and 7/16 too wide. Tried 10 mm , it goes on the bolt heads but slips when I put some force on to unscrew the bolts. Which size socket is correct?

Thank you guys! Checked the heads and they are not Allen type. The 6-point 3/8 socket seems too tight but I guess someone has used violence so I´ll make a new try with a 12-point.

Cruiser, The head of the bolts are 12 point... That's why a six point socket won't fit.
